The circular economy is emerging as a key solution for achieving sustainable development in the current global context. Over the course of the 20th century, global GDP has increased twentyfold, but unsustainable resource extraction has led to severe consequences such as environmental degradation and resource depletion. To address these issues, the circular economic, with its model of resource reuse, waste minimization and product value optimization, is being considered a crucial solusion.

The circular economy goes beyond using fewer materials and recycling products, and also entails designing products and manufacturing procedures within sustainability from the beginning. This involves choosing materials and manufacturing technologies to extend the lifespan of products, minimize inputs (such as energy and water) and decrease waste generation to the minimum limit. By reusing as many resources as possible, this economic model aims to completely eliminate the conception of “waste”.

Moreover, the application of circular economy practices creates opportunities to develop new products and services that meet the growing consumer demand for sustainability. Companies that implement this model not only decrease costs but also increase their competitive advantage in an increasingly demanding market.
