Overview of the Institute

The UEH Institute of Sustainable Finance (SFI), a unit of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, is the first and only educational institution in Vietnam dedicated to consulting, training, and researching sustainable finance and related fields. With its vision and mission, SFI aims to enhance the university's reputation, leading position, and public trust.

The establishment of the SFI focuses on the following objectives:
  • Disseminating foundational knowledge of sustainability management and sustainable finance to the public;
  • Developing and contributing to policies on sustainability management and sustainable finance, aligning with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development;
  • Connecting and implementing sustainability management  and sustainable finance projects led by multilateral non-governmental organizations to support Vietnam’s Green Growth Strategy;
  • Building networks with financial and sustainable development think tanks in the region and globally, enriching UEH’s international collaboration;
  • Expanding and strengthening UEH’s relationships with the business community;
  • Providing consultancy services tailored to the needs of businesses, the government, and local authorities;
  • Training a new generation of managers and financial analysts who prioritize ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) factors;
  • Conducting research and applying sustainable finance principles to capital investment, risk management, and banking.
Key Activities of UEH’s Sustainable Finance Institute
  • Offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in corporate sustainability management and sustainable finance (e.g., the Bachelor and Master's in Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Management, and Doctoral degree in Business Administration);
  • Conducting academic and applied scientific research;
  • Providing short-term training courses on sustainability management and sustainable finance tailored to societal needs;
  • Delivering consultancy services on sustainable governance and finance;
  • Developing international cooperation in training and scientific research;
  • Fostering a faculty team with strong ethics, high expertise, and advanced teaching methodologies.
Human Resource Development Plans
  • Regularly updating faculty members with practical knowledge;
  • Improving the faculty’s English teaching proficiency;
  • Enhancing the academic qualifications and research capabilities of the institute’s faculty and researchers.
With this expertise, the UEH SFI is well-equipped to share extensive knowledge in sustainability management and sustainable finance with both public and private sector organizations. The institute is prepared to offer consultancy, support, and training services to institutions and economic entities that aim to develop and improve sustainability management practices. Additionally, SFI is open to collaborating with universities and research institutes worldwide in the fields of education and scientific research, adhering to a principle of mutual development.
